What value can a textile have? Something Blue is Pauline Gottschalk, designer and stylist, then dealt with the emotional value of a wedding dress. The question of what actually happens to the wedding dress after the ceremony always comes up. Each bride is an individual in herself, just like her chosen dress for that one special day. It holds emotions, feelings and history. Most don't want to just give that away, or even throw it away. Upcyling is the classic answer to this question. But simply turning the clothes into a pillow is not the optimal solution. That's why Pauline Gottschalk took on her mother's wedding dress from the '80s. The train became three tops, the mainbody became a mini dress. Emotions for everyday life. It became possible for us to transport and photograph a textile from an earlier time into the here and now.
